The Watchseller Policies
The Watchseller does not distribute our customers' information to any third parties for any reason. All customer information is maintained in a secure manner
If you wish to purchase any item, please notify us by phone or email. The item will be placed on hold, pending receipt of payment. Although we cannot accept payment by on line services such as Paypal, all items may be purchased by prepayment with cashiers check, money order, or bank wire transfer. For international orders and purchases over $5000 we can only accept payment by bank wire transfer. We can accept credit cards (American Express, Mastercard, and VISA) for purchases of up to $5000 shipped to verified US addresses. Our three day return privilege still applies on any and all returns. There will, however, be a five to ten percent restocking fee on any item purchased with a credit card and subsequently returned. There will be no restocking fee on returns associated with other payment methods.
To prevent fraud, we can only ship purchases to the billing address of your credit card. To receive your purchase at an address different from your billing address you will be required to have an alternate shipping address on file with your credit card company. This is a very easy process that should take only a few minutes. Call your bank customer service telephone number, which should be on the back of your credit card. Request that the customer service representative add an "alternate shipping address to file" and give them the address to which you would like to have us ship your watch. Please contact us if you want any further explanation of this process.
All watches are sold with an unconditional three day return privilege to give purchasers the opportunity to reassure themselves of the authenticity and condition of watches purchased. (This return option cannot be offered on international sales due to issues with the US Customs Service.) The purchase price, less shipping costs and restocking fee, if applicable, will be refunded upon receipt of the watch in the same condition it was shipped to the purchaser. If there is evidence that a watch as been worn, any links removed from the bracelet, or any protective plastic removed from the watch, a ten to twenty percent restocking fee will be charged. If the watch case has been opened, the return privilege is void. No other warranty is provided, or implied, unless so stated in the posting. Three days after the buyer receives the watch, all sales are final.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are committed to excellent customer service and will do our best to resolve any issues.
Arizona residents must add 7.1% sales tax or provide a tax resale certificate. All shipments outside of Arizona are exempt from sales tax. Purchasers outside of the US are responsible for taxes or customs charges assesses by the inbound country. Please check with your local customs for duties and tax information. We do not have any particulars on charges by individual countries.
Shipping Rates (US Orders)
We use FedEx for shipments to addresses in the US and Canada. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages. Shipping charges in the US are based on the weight and value of the item shipped, usually $35 to $40 by FedEx Two Day (two business days) or $60 to $75 if you prefer FedEx Priority Overnight (one business day) Delivery. All shipments are insured for the full purchase price of the item. In the event of a return, shipping fees are not refundable.
Due to the difficulty of credit card verification and identification on international purchases, The Watchseller does not accept credit cards for purchases outside the United States. We will accept only bank wire transfers for these transactions. We will be pleased to supply our banking information in response to your inquiry. International shipments are made by International Priority Mail and cost $50 to $100, depending on the weigh and value of the item. Please note that we are not responsible for additional costs, such as customs, duties, VAT, taxes, etc. Since customs policies vary widely from country to country, we urge our international customers to contact their local customs office for an estimate before ordering. Please note that we must declare the full value that you paid for your watch on the shipment. We cannot falsify customs declarations. The amount of insurance coverage available varies depending on the country to which an item is shipped. We can only ship to those countries to which watches can be insured for full value. Please contact us for more information.
We do not have sources to obtain particular items. We do maintain a request list. If the item you desire is not posted for sale on our web site, we would be pleased to place your name on our request list and will notify you if we obtain the item you have requested.
The Watchseller is an authorized dealer for Atlantic, Epos, RGM, and Vollmer watches. Each of these unworn watches that we sell will have the manufacturer’s customary one to two year warranty. In some cases the Watchseller is able to pass along an authorized dealer stamped warranty card, in which case the watch will be covered by the manufacturers stated warranty.
When the manufacturers warranty is included with the watch, warranty service may be handled directly between the consumer and the manufacturer. The watch will be delivered with a manufacturers original endorsed warranty card.
Grading of Watches
Because we find numerical grading scales to be excessively subjective, we use a descriptive grading scale and attempt to reveal any flaw we find, no matter how minor. In order to avoid disappointments, we prefer to underestimate the condition of the watches we sell. Because of the subjective nature of the evaluation of watch condition, not all observers will agree with our appraisal. Please review the grading scale that we use:
A pre-owned watch that has been worn and is in perfect condition.
A pre-owned watch that is in very nearly perfect condition. Minimal wear may be visible with a loupe. The watch maintains excellent time, and any complications function properly.
This watch shows signs of rare careful wear. Only very superficial scratches, visible to the naked eye, are present on the case, bezel, bracelet or buckle. A strap should show evidence of light use; it may be curved or creased, but not stained. The watch maintains excellent time, and any complications function properly.

No dents or dings are present, and any bracelet shows only mild scuffs. Strap shows use and may be minimally stained on its inner surface only. Frequently Asked Questions
What are your credentials?
We have been buying and selling fine watches on line since 1995. Our web site, Watchseller.com, was established in 1996. We are members of both the International Watch & Jewelry Guild (IWJG) and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC). If you are hesitant to purchase from an internet dealer, please ask us for a list of our unsolicited references.
Do you sell “replica watches”?
Every item we sell is authentic. We do not sell any replica
Do you sell watches without serial numbers?
In the past, some internet watch dealers have removed the serial number from the case of watches that they sell to make it difficult for the manufacturer to trace the sources of these watches. Although this is rarely an issue today, we do not now and have never purchased or sold watches defaced in this manner.
Do you own the watches you sell?
Every watch we sell is in our physical inventory. We never have watches "drop shipped" by other dealers. Although we do own the great majority of the watches we sell, we occasionally do sell watches on consignment. Those watches are in our stock and are evaluated in the same manner as those we have purchased.
Why do some of your prices seem "too good to be true"?
We purchase preowned watches from individuals collectors and obtain new watches as overstocks and close outs from dealers whom we trust. We sell all watches with a small profit margin and pass savings on to our customers.
Can you supply detailed close up images of your watches?
If you click on the picture of any watch, it will enlarge considerably to show a close up, detailed image. We take every effort to supply the best images possible. Each image is the actual item offered for sale, unless it is a new, unworn item of which we have multiple samples.
What do your watch measurements mean?
We measure each watch with a micrometer and include this information in the description of each watch. These measurements occasionally differ from published measurements. For round watches we supply the diameter (not including the crown or pushers) and thickness of the case. Dimensions of rectangular or tonneau shaped watches are length (including the lugs), width, and thickness. All quoted dimensions are in millimeters.
Are your watches checked for water resistance?
Our watches are not pressure tested and are not guaranteed to be water resistant. Even if it rated as water resistant, we suggest avoiding unnecessary water exposure of any luxury watch. Because of issues with heat and soap exposure, watches should not be used in a sauna, hot tub, bath, or shower.
Do you purchase watches?
The Watchseller is always looking for clean, high quality watches. If you have a watch to sell, please phone or email us with the details. For many newer watches, our offering price will be about 30% to 40% of the manufacturer's recommended list price (MSRP). Some watches, like Rolex and Panerai, may bring more, and others, such as Girard Perregaux, may command lower prices on the resale market. Please understand that there are brands and models that we cannot purchase. Because of issues with the US Customs Service, we regret that we cannot purchase watches from outside the US. We pledge to treat you fairly.
Do you consider offers for your watches?
Although most of our posted prices are the best that we can offer, we occasionally offer rebates or sale prices.
Do you have a store where I can see your merchandise?
The Watchseller is an internet based business. We do not have a secure location to display our watches.
Do you have a layaway plan?
With a firm commitment to purchase, we can hold a watch for you for five to seven days. After numerous problems in the past, we have stopped doing longer term layaway's.
How can I be sure my purchase will arrive undamaged?
Our shipping department takes great care to pack our merchandise for shipment in a manner that will prevent any possible damage to your purchase. Each item is carefully packed by our experienced personnel. All shipments are insured for full value, and an adult signature is required for receipt of the package.
Do your watches come with boxes and papers?
Because our customers prefer to purchase watches with boxes and papers, we attempt to purchase watches with these accessories. Occasionally, an attractive watch is offered to us without these items. The description of each watch on our web site clearly states which items accompany each watch.
Do you service watches before offering them for sale?
Our in house watchmaker carefully examines each watch at the time of purchase. We only buy watches that function properly and maintain accurate time. The timing of each watch is checked on a watchmaker’s timing machine, and the results of this testing are includes in the description of the item. Cosmetic detailing and servicing are carried out, if necessary. If a watch has been recently serviced, that information will be seen in the posting.
How old is the watch that you are selling?
If we have documentation of the age of any watch, that information will be included in the description. Often, the paperwork on a watch is not dated, so we cannot give precise information on the age of the item.
